Max M. Liptrot Memorial Scholarship

Eligibility requirements: Applicant must complete and submit the MCC Scholarship Application. Applicant must be enrolled as a full-time student at McHenry County College. Applicant must be enrolled in degree program, with major in English or Journalism. Applicant must have a 2.75 GPA. Applicant must be a documented legal resident of the United States and a resident of McHenry County. Applicant must demonstrate a passion for writing and educational goals with a 300 minimum word essay. Applicant must demonstrate financial need and be receiving no other form of financial aid. Preference will be given to a second year student who is involved in the MCC student newspaper. Other consideration will be given to an incoming freshman who has intentions to join and participate in the MCC student newspaper.
Support provided: The amount will provide up to $500.00 for the semester awarded. No payments made directly to students. The award monies may only be used for tuition, books (purchased in the MCC Bookstore) and registration for the semester awarded.
Material to be submitted:
  • Proof of cumulative GPA.

Applicant must provide the following: MCC Scholarship Application Form with signature and date, proof of enrollment of 12+ credit hours, proof of 2.75+ GPA, proof of residency in McHenry County, essay and FAFSA completion.
