John J. Adelmann, Jr. Memorial Scholarship

The John J. Adelmann, Jr. Memorial Scholarship was established in 2012 by Mr. Adelmann’s family after his courageous battle with cancer. Mr. Adelmann worked at McHenry County College for 30 years as an instructor and administrator. The Adelmann family believes in helping to enrich the lives of the young people who will be receiving scholarship so that they have the opportunity to pursue their educational goals. The scholarship award provides $1,000.00 towards tuition, books and fees for the semester awarded. The eligibility requirements include: applicants must be full-time, with preference given to students majoring in education and sons/daughters of those who have served in the military.

The scholarship recipients for the 2016 Spring Semester were Ms. Emily Vitacco of Huntley and Ms. Alexis Ankele of Crystal Lake. Ms. Vitacco received her Associates in Science degree from MCC in May of 2016 and is currently attending Illinois State University where she is majoring in English Teacher Education and minoring in Writing. Ms. Ankele also received her Associates in Science degree from MCC in May of 2016 and is also attending Illinois State University where she is majoring in Early Childhood Education.
