The Black Box Theatre is proud to present as part of its 50th anniversary season, The Normal Heart by Larry Kramer. This Tony Award winning play originally presented in 1985 is a searing drama about public and private indifference to the AIDS plague and one man's lonely fight to awaken the world to the crisis. Produced to acclaim in New York, London and Los Angeles, The Normal Heart follows Ned Weeks, a gay activist enraged at the indifference of public officials and the gay community. While trying to save the world from itself, he confronts the personal toll of AIDS when his lover dies of the disease (Samuel French).
Directed by Jay Geller (Kildeer), set design by Thomas Kelsing (Glenview), lighting design by Rick Amundsen (Woodstock), costume design by Susan Cowell (Harvard) and stage manager Kathryn McCord (Crystal Lake). The cast features Sean Plotts (Wonder Lake), Jake Seeyle (Harvard), Monica Hauschild (McHenry), Alan Williams, Jacob Villec, Gary Mackowiak, Robert Moray (Crystal Lake), Anthony Rodriguez and Josh Archambeau (Lake in the Hills).
