The Black Box Theatre at McHenry County College (MCC) is proud to announce auditions for their Fall 2024 production of Metamorphoses by Mary Zimmerman, directed by Jay Geller.
Mary Zimmerman's Metamorphoses brings Ovid's tales to visual life. Set in and around a large pool of water onstage, the play juxtaposes the ancient and the contemporary in both language and image to reflect the variety and persistence of narrative in the face of inevitable change. Time magazine hailed it as the “theatrical event of the year” and the New York Times raved, "With its emphases on love, loss, and the transforming powers of memory and the imagination…the production has been reducing calloused New Yorkers to sobs."
There are roles for 10 versatile and energetic performers of any gender, ethnicity, or age. All roles are members of an ensemble, in which each member has several features and several supporting roles. All cast members must be comfortable in water.
Please prepare a 2–3-minute classical monologue (from any Shakespeare or Greek play) and dress to move for the audition.
Auditions will be held on Monday, August 26 and Tuesday, August 27 from 6–8:30 p.m. Callbacks will be held on Thursday, August 29. Rehearsals will begin on Wednesday, September 4 and be held every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 6–9:30 p.m. Performances are November 1–3, 8–10, and 15–17.
