McHenry County College (MCC) has opened registration for its 2026 Kids and College Spring Break and Summer Programs. Designed to spark curiosity and build practical skills, the Kids and College program provides hands-on classes that help students explore interests, discover potential career paths, and develop a lasting enthusiasm for learning.
The Spring Break program, held March 23–25, offers a variety of classes for students in grades 1-8. Classes include Improv for Kids, Minecraft: Creative Mode, Cookie Making and Decorating, Discover Drones, Electronic Circuits with Micro:bits, a selection of art classes, plus the National Inventors Hall of Fame’s popular Camp Invention ® series and the Young Makers Camp presented by the Griffin Museum of Science and Industry. Morning, afternoon, and full-day options are available.
The Summer Kids and College program runs from June 1–August 7, with new classes starting each week. Students entering grades 1-9 can choose from more than 125 classes, including the Makers Camp and Camp Invention, plus camps in welding, fabrication, and chemical coating; art, film, and theater; healthcare and first-responder services; science; model aviation and drones; automotive technology; rowing; honeybees; and more. New this summer, there will be a select number of specialized camps for high school students including Broadway Academy, Culinary Bootcamp, First Responders Camp, Healthcare Camp, and Rowing Camp.
Morning, afternoon, and full-day classes are available. A supervised lunch period is provided from 12-1 p.m. if a full day of classes are chosen.
Classes are taught by exceptional teachers, MCC faculty, and camp counselors who will engage campers with their passion and enthusiasm. Spring Break and Summer 2026 classes will be held in person at MCC’s main campus in Crystal Lake unless otherwise noted.
For added convenience, MCC also offers early arrival and late dismissal options for summer classes. Parents/guardians can register to drop off students starting as early as 7:30 a.m., and students can stay in the late dismissal group until 5:30 p.m., an hour after classes end.
