Archaeological Field School

Summer 2026

June 1–11, 2026 - Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–6 p.m.

In the two-week Archaeological Field School (ANT-255), you’ll work at the historic Macktown archaeological site in Rockton, Illinois, and receive hands-on training in archaeological survey, excavation, mapping, laboratory processing, and Cultural Resource Management (CRM) form processing throughout the course. You’ll work directly on active research areas while gaining practical experience for careers in archaeology and fieldwork.

Two ways to enroll:

  1. Credit (ANT 255): Earn three transferable credits. See summer registration information

The course is held primarily outdoors. Students must provide their own transportation. Course fee includes equipment and supplies.
