Pathway Coaches

Pathway Coaches assist with:

  • Creating meaningful, work-based learning experiences that boost student career readiness
  • Developing student-centered resources and activities that build essential employability skills such as teamwork, adaptability, and professionalism
  • Helping undecided students identify a career path

Make an appointment or stop by a Co/Lab when you are:

  • Facing challenges or need guidance to achieve your academic and career goals
  • Having trouble managing your time, setting priorities, or talking with faculty
  • Looking for an internship, job, or career
  • Exploring what degree you want to earn or what you want to do in the future
  • What type of students do Pathway Coaches work with?

We work with all students! Some of our specialties are first-generation college students, exploratory (undecided) students, non-traditional or traditional students, or students looking to explore different career paths.

  • When should I seek support from a Pathway Coach?

It’s always a good time to meet with a pathway coach. We help from the beginning to the end of your journey at MCC. We can assist with everything from selecting the right classes for your pathway to getting started in your new career.

  • What can I expect from my Pathway Coach?

You can expect guidance, encouragement, and support, while also being challenged and held accountable for goals being worked on.

  • What does a meeting with a Pathway Coach look like?

Each student has unique needs, so each meeting is unique. Meetings typically last 30 minutes to an hour depending on what topics are discussed, what advice is given, and which services are recommended.

  • What does a Pathway Coach need from the student?

This will vary depending upon the reason for the meeting, but please come prepared. If you want to chat about your classes, bring your laptop so we can review your work. If you want to explore career opportunities, come with a rough draft of your resume. Be ready to make some progress!
